Everest Family Trek in Comfort

The season typically runs from late September (Autumn) to early May (Spring). This is when there is no monsoon and the weather is stable and clear enough for views of the 8000m giants. In some parts of the Himalaya, Spring brings with it a riot of colour thanks to the famous rhododendrons.

No technical experience is needed. This trek is suitable for fit, healthy and adventurous travellers who can walk 4–6 hours a day. It’s designed as a gentler-paced trek with shorter walking days, extra acclimatisation, and added comfort - making it a great choice for families.

Yes. This itinerary has been carefully designed with families in mind. We set a lower maximum altitude (3,867m / 12,687ft), build in more rest days, and use our Eco-Comfort Camps and lodges for comfort and safety. Children aged 12 and over are welcome on our Nepal family treks (younger children may be accepted on a private family departure after consultation with our team). Parents can trek with peace of mind knowing safety, acclimatisation and comfort are our priorities.

You’ll only carry your daypack (approx. 6–8kg / 13–18lb) with daily items like water, camera, rain jacket, and snacks. Your main gear is carried by porters.

Your trek duffel (provided) should not exceed 15kg (33lb). On Lukla flights, you’re allowed 10kg checked and 5kg carry-on (total 15kg / 33lb). We provide this allowance specifically for trekking gear.

Yes - any extra items not needed on the trek can be safely stored at the group hotel in Kathmandu.

At higher altitudes, especially at night and above 3,500m (11,480ft), temperatures can drop below freezing. Expect mild to cool days and colder nights. We help keep you warm with high-quality gear and Eco-Comfort Camps that include a heated dining area.

Yes, you’ll enjoy views of Everest along the trail, but the real highlight of this family trek is combining classic Himalayan scenery with a softer, more accessible adventure. You’ll also see Ama Dablam and other stunning peaks.

You'll stay at the Radisson, a 4-star hotel, in Kathmandu. On trek, enjoy our exclusive Eco-Comfort Camps with heated dining rooms, sit-down toilets, as well as selected eco-lodges in villages. Hot showers are sometimes available but not guaranteed. We provide warm washing water every morning on trek.

There will be opportunities to charge your camera/phone at Namche, Deboche and Lukla. You should carry fully charged spare batteries as well and a solar charging pack is also handy.

Yes - with World Expeditions, all meals are included while on trek. Our cooks prepare fresh, hearty meals each day, using safe food-handling practices, to keep you well-fuelled and healthy. You won’t need to budget extra for food on the trail. In Kathmandu, breakfast is included, but other meals are at your own expense so you can explore local dining options.

Our trek is graded Introductory to Moderate (3). Days can involve up to 6 hours of trekking, with some ascents/descents and altitudes up to 3,867m (12,687ft). A good level of fitness is recommended, but this itinerary is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for families.

Yes - return flights to and from Lukla are included. Each trekker is allowed a total luggage weight of 15kg (33lb) on these flights.

No - we provide one. Some operators require you to hire or buy gear at extra cost, we include a warm sleeping bag, liner and mat as part of your trek. In our Eco-Comfort Camps, you’ll sleep on raised beds with mattresses and pillows.

You won’t need to invest in expensive gear you might only use once - we include essentials on our Nepal treks like a quality sleeping bag, down or fibre fill jacket and sleeping bag liner. This not only saves you money, but lightens your load when you travel to/from Kathmandu. Once you’ve booked, we’ll provide a detailed gear list outlining exactly what you need to bring. If you don't have a sturdy pair of boots yet, start looking into those now.

Based on our years of experience in the Himalaya, the safest itineraries include acclimatisation days, like ours, so they are paced for safe ascent. Guides are trained in first aid, and porters/guides carry a medical kit. On all trips that take you to 4,000 metres and above, we carry a Portable Altitude Chamber (PAC). This lightweight hyperbaric chamber is used to treat high altitude illness when needed. Oxygen is not used on our treks. If symptoms persist, descent is required.
