 jewels of the arctic
14 day voyage 13 nights aboard Polar Pioneer
Voyage from Spitsbergen and cruise the magnificent east coast of Greenland This voyage aboard the Polar Pioneer offers access to the remarkable treasures of Spitsbergen and Greenland. Here you’ll find abundant polar wildlife, Inuit culture and maritime history, set among some of Earth’s most surreal and staggering landscapes: vast ice pack and blocky icebergs, rugged mountain ranges, glaciers, fjords and seemingly endless tundra. From Spitsbergen we cruise across the frigid waters of the Greenland Sea, admiring the stunning coastline and expansive ice sheet of Greenland’s remote east coast. We’ll take as many opportunities as possible to use our zodiacs or sea kayaks to make landings, keeping watch for rich wildlife such as polar bears, seals, Arctic foxes, musk oxen, narwhals, walrus, whales and countless seabirds. With an itinerary full of polar highlights including visits to Kaiser Franz Josef Fjord and Scoresby Sund, we’ll stop to encounter wildlife, visit small Inuit settlements, explore fjords and walk across glaciers and tundra.
Join us as we experience the jewels of the Arctic!

14 day voyage 13 nights on board Polar Pioneer
A remote cruise through the Scottish Isles, along the Norwegian coastline, and finally the wildlife rich island of Spitsbergen The remote Scottish Isles are a treasure trove of archaeological wonders. We cruise to the Orkney Islands where we have the opportunity to visit Skara Brae, a 5000 year old Neolithic village and see an amazing sea stack known as the Old Man of Hoy. If conditions permit we will land on Hirta in remote St Kilda, a World Heritage Site with the world’s largest colony of Guillemots. Closer to Norway than to Scotland, the Shetland archipelago offers a gamut of relics from the Viking occupation including Mousa, home to the world’s best preserved broch. Continuing on we explore the spectacular Norwegian coastline, an intricate maze of rarely visited inlets and outer islands before crossing the Arctic Circle and sailing to the Lofoten Islands. Our final days are spent discovering the majestic beauty of Spitsbergen, where we hope to see Polar Bear or
catch glimpses of the elusive Beluga Whale.
