An epic adventure through the magnificent Scoresby Sund
An inlet system of the Greenland Sea, the Scoresby Sund is the largest and longest fjord system on the planet. The fauna of the region is unusually rich for Greenland, and the wildlife we hope to encounter on this voyage includes musk oxen, Arctic fox, stoat, mountain hare and lemming, along with numerous seabird species. Setting sail from Iceland, we cruise north into the Denmark Sea, before entering the magnificent Scoresby Sund to explore its myriad inlets and bays. We spend our days undertaking zodiac cruises to explore iceberg‐filled fjords, abandoned Inuit settlements and wildlife viewing spots, and while at sea we’ll have the opportunity to whale watch, and hopefully catch glimpses of the spectacular Aurora Borealis or ‘Northern Lights’. This unique voyage aboard Hondius takes us to the heart of one of Earth’s most pristine environments.
BRIEF ITINERARY: DAY 1 | Transfer from Reykjavik to Akureyri and embark the ship 2/8 | Cruise Scoresby Sund 9 | Disembark Akureyri (Iceland) and transfer to Reykjavik where trip concludes.
INCLUSIONS: 8 breakfasts, 7 lunches and 8 dinners specialist expedition staff comfortable cabin accommodation on cruise all activities while on cruise including zodiac excursions, lectures, videos, slide and film shows and guide services use of all ship facilities and public areas medical services (there is a resident medical officer and infirmary on board)
