Like the Vikings of old, we sail west from Reykjavík in Iceland across the Denmark Strait to Greenland a marvellous region of mountains, glaciers, fjords, and icebergs. Greenland’s east coast is rarely visited and offers breathtaking fjords and wonderful walking opportunities. Aboard the Ocean Endeavour, we’ll explore in comfort and our fleet of zodiacs will be standing by for scenic excursion opportunities. Whales and seabirds are abundant here and photographers, birders and hikers alike will be in awe. Villages around Greenland’s southern tip offer glimpses of Greenlandic culture. Bask in the Unartoq geothermal springs and explore the ruins of Brattelid ‐ a settlement founded by Erik the Red. Kangaamiut is a quaint fishing village. Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, offers shopping and dining and we will also cruise mighty Sondre Stromfjord to our final destination, Kangerlussuaq.
