Albatross soaring over the Drake Passage, huge penguin colonies on the South Shetland Islands, and the whales and seals that frequent these icy polar waters. Imagine following in the footsteps of the world’s greatest explorers, and time permitting visiting a scientific base. As we head south, the Peninsula becomes even more dramatic with towering icebergs, glistening unclimbed peaks and spectacular glaciers. No trip is ever the same, and seeing is believing in this wonderland of rock and ice.
BRIEF ITINERARY: DAY 1 | Embark Ushuaia 2 | Cross Drake Passage 3 | Approach South Shetland Islands 4/7 | Explore South Shetland Islands and the western side of Antarctic Peninsula following a flexible itinerary to include some of the following: Livingston Island, Half Moon Island, Deception Island (volcanic crater), Paradise Bay, Lemaire Channel (gigantic icebergs and huge cliffs) together with a host of other islands and scientific bases 8/9 | Re-cross Drake Passage to Beagle Channel 10 | Disembark Ushuaia where trip concludes
