A summertime journey to the Weddell Sea, South Shetland Islands, and Antarctic Peninsula
A classic journey to the Weddell Sea, incorporating time in the South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula. Accompanied by our experienced naturalists and guides who know the regions intimately we get a full appreciation of this unique, pristine and dramatic region, as we enjoy the magnificent wildlife viewing opportunities that are available. We expect to see mass numbers of sea birds, including Albatross, soaring over the Drake Passage, huge penguin colonies on the South Shetland Islands, and the whales and seals that frequent these icy polar waters. The Weddell Sea will always be remembered as the polar region that still echoes the ill‐fated expedition of the great British polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. As we head south, the Peninsula becomes even more dramatic with towering icebergs, glistening unclimbed peaks and spectacular glaciers.
BRIEF ITINERARY: DAY 1 | Embark Ushuaia 2/3 | Cross Drake Passage 4/6 | Exploring the Weddell Sea 7/8 | Exploring the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands, following a flexible itinerary to possibly include: Paradise Bay, Cuverville Island, Port Lockroy, Half Moon Island, Deception Island, Elephant Island, together with a host of other waterways and historic sites 9/10 | Re-cross Drake Passage to Beagle Channel 11 | Disembark Ushuaia where trip concludes

A voyage of discovery to the Antarctic
Peninsula in search of whales
The pristine Antarctic Peninsula is home to a diverse array of wildlife, and this unique voyage focuses on the large numbers and different species of whales who feed in the peninsula’s nutrient rich waters late in the summer season. Minke, Fin, Humpback and even Orca whales are high on the list of species we hope to spot, along with large numbers of Leopard and Crabeater seals. Commencing our landings around the Melchior Islands and the Schollaert Channel, we hope to make landings at Neko Harbour and Danco Island if weather permits. From here we head through ‘The Gullet’ ‐ a picturesque narrow channel between Adelaide Island and the Antarctic Continent, and if weather is on our side we will push further south towards Crystal Sound and across the fabled Antarctic Circle.

We will follow a flexible itinerary with planned visits to Paradise Bay and aim to land on the Antarctic continent at Neko Harbour, along with Pléneau & Petermann Islands. We also hope to head reach Crystal Sound and the Antarctic Circle 12/13 | Drake Passage 14 | Disembark Ushuaia where trip concludes
