FIRST ON THE OTAGO CENTRAL RAIL TRAIL | Trail Journeys was the original company on the Central Otago Rail Trail to o er bike hire, customised itineraries, luggage, bike and passenger transport. We started when the Rail Trail opened in 2000 and have assisted thousands of travellers. Today, we are the largest operator on the Otago Rail Trail.
CONVENIENTLY LOCATED BASES | Trail Journeys has sta ed depots at both ends of the trail, in Clyde and Middlemarch, where you can make last minute adjustments, have a shower, or purchase forgotten items from sunscreen to cycle pants.
BACK UP AND SUPPORT | With up to 30 sta to call on, seven passenger vans, three buses and 10 trailers, Trail Journeys caters for your private group and supports you at any stage – from any end of the trail – meaning a quicker response.
CUSTOM BUILT AVANTI BIKES | In 2010, Trail Journeys teamed with Avanti to come up with a new bike specifically to help our
travellers on the trail. Some of the more notable features include;
• Puncture resistant tyres for piece of mind and hassle free riding.
• Upright riding position to take the pressure o your wrists, neck
and back.
• Sweep back handlebars to further reduce pressure on wrists.
• Higher spec chain and derailleurs for smoother, more reliable
gear changing.
• Padded seats with extra width, suspension seat posts and
ergonomic features for weight dispersion.
Our bikes are so good we have people wanting to buy them on completion of their journey!
