Keeping trails free of litter
10 Pieces at a time
We are the founding partners of 10 Pieces, a smart initiative that harnesses the collective power of travellers to help keep the wilderness trails in Peru litter free. We invite you to sign- up to collect ten pieces of paper or plastic litter that you nd on the trail each day. Your crew will collect the litter at the end of each day and dispose of it responsibly. Leading by example your actions educate mountain communities that litter is not aesthetically desirable and detrimental for the health of wildlife and humans alike.
Protecting vulnerable children
Children in tourist areas are especially susceptible to physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Our Child Protection Policy, developed in conjunction with World Vision, ensures that travellers who are in prolonged contact with children on our itineraries are vetted to ensure the welfare of the children.
Protecting vulnerable animals
Drawing on the expertise of international animal welfare organisation, World Animal Protection, we have developed the industry’s most comprehensive Animal Welfare Code of Conduct. We advocate that the best animal encounter is a wild one, we encourage you to view animals in their natural habitat and boycott cruel animal encounters. In 2014, after an audit of our supply chain we removed elephant rides from our itineraries.
Travel in Peace
As Coalition Partners of the International Institute of Peace rough Tourism we support the belief that the travel industry can become the world’s rst global peace industry and that every traveller is potentially an “Ambassador for Peace”. Below is the Credo of the Peaceful Traveller ...
Grateful for the opportunity to travel and experience the world and because peace begins with the individual, I a rm my personal responsibility and commitment to:
• Journey with an open mind and gentle heart
• Accept with grace and gratitude the diversity I encounter
• Revere and protect the natural environment which sustains all life
• Appreciate all cultures I discover
• Respect and thank my hosts for their welcome
• O er my hand in friendship to everyone I meet
• Support travel services that share these views and act upon them
• By my spirit, words & actions, encourage others to travel in peace
