It is located at 3850m in a spectacular gorge in Ladakh. Because of the altitude, we spend some time in the village to acclimatise and to learn more about the local culture before continuing our journey deeper into the Indian Himalayas.

<carouselsource aspectratio="4x3" data-plugin-options="{'items': 3, 'margin': 10, 'nav': true, 'dots': false}"> <img alt="The living room of one of our homestays | Garry Weare" class="responsiveImage" cropdataid="646494" dynamiccroppedimage="1" largestloadedsize="1100" src="/croppedImages/Indian-Sub-Continent/Indian-Himalaya/Homestay-Ladakh-Leh-646494-1100px.jpg" variablesrc="/croppedImages/Indian-Sub-Continent/Indian-Himalaya/Homestay-Ladakh-Leh-646494-###width###px.jpg" /> <img alt="Trekkers in Rumbak image | Garry Weare" class="responsiveImage" cropdataid="646495" dynamiccroppedimage="1" largestloadedsize="1100" src="/croppedImages/Indian-Sub-Continent/Indian-Himalaya/Trekkers-in-Rumbak-image-646495-1100px.jpg" variablesrc="/croppedImages/Indian-Sub-Continent/Indian-Himalaya/Trekkers-in-Rumbak-image-646495-###width###px.jpg" /> </carouselsource>

Rumbak is said to date back around 400 years and for long has been a resting place for all kinds of people that were traversing the Himalayas. On our trip, we take trekkers to visit a friendly local family to learn more about their culture and to try several of their typical drinks.
